Hi all of you Days of Chalk and Chocolate Readers!
My name is Katie
and I blog over at Creatively Living.
I'm really happy to be here at Days of Chalk and Chocolate! It's one of my favorite blogs. Jenny has some amazing talent and everything she does turns out awesome!
I love nothing more than a great room makeover,
but my second favorite thing is turning trash into something cool.
Today I'm going to share with you a fun project that I made for our nursery.
When I created this nursery, I had a baby girl on the way, and an almost 2 yr old boy. So I wanted it to be gender nutral, with a few girly touches.
I found this art for $4/piece at a local (upscale) art shop when we lived in Hawaii. They had a flood, so the matting of some of the pictures had been ruined. I, of course, saw a great frame, and a good print and bought 4 of them! I figured I could just replace the matting.
These prints never ended up "fitting" my house here in Washington, so it was time to give them a makeover!
I sprayed the frame with a high-gloss black.
I turned over the print (since it wasn't bad and I could use it again) and stenciled on the back, using Jones Design Company's FREE printable stencil)
Lastly, I painted it with gray paint. (you can buy it in a small tube at Walmart), and I colored the letter and it's frame with a black permanent marker.
I made two of these. One with an "E" for Eva, and one with a "Z" for Zach, and hung them above the crib and the bed.
I made them awhile back, but still really like them in the room and you can't beat that the makeover was for FREE!
Thanks for having me over Jenny and all of you Days of Chalk and Chocolate readers! Hope you enjoyed the project!
Come visit me sometime at Creatively Living.
