Hi all!  This blog post is going to be all over the place  but with all good things!  First, I am meeting some local bloggers for a day of DIY, lunch, and blog chatter. I am so excited!  This is my first blog get together and I must admit I am a tad nervous!  What if I'm the only one without a rolled flower necklace or homemade infinity scarf?  Yikes.  I'll bring my camera though and hopefully I'll have pictures to share!



In the same vein, I have to give a huge shout out to two very special bloggers who helped me with some encouraging words and friendly advice. When I was feeling blue about my blog, they were so supportive and friendly. THANK YOU to Laura at Our Prairie Home and Lori at Thrifty Decor Mom.  Please show them some love back and visit their blogs!  They are both inspiring and creative!

And I had this great before/after for you all. When we bought the house the previous owners left us a round table for the kitchen. It is the perfect size for the spot so I kept it even though it wasn't my style. It was a black, ornate metal base with a fake wood laminate top. The base was dingy and dirty but so ornate that I couldn't get it clean. Nooks and crannies, you know?  And while the fake wood is f-ugly, it is so easy to keep clean. NOTHING sticks to it. Not glitter glue, not marker, not latex paint. Nothing. Anyway, I decided to paint it.

So like a good blogger I took before pictures and during pictures. And then when I tried to upload the pictures it turns out my card was corrupted and would need to be reformatted (i.e. lose everything). So I went off to see if I could find anything that showed the table from previous pictures.

You can see the top of the table in this picture.

So when you see the afters just imagine it was a dusty, chipped black base with that top.  Now it looks like this!

I painted it first with a pale gray/blue oops paint from Lowes. I then used Rub-n-Buff in Patina in the cracks and crevices. I followed up with a generous rubbing of  Rub-n-Buff Grecian Gold. Lastly, I used Minwax natural wax to seal it. I like it!


I sewed a fitted tablecloth from drop cloths. I didn't want it to slide around which is why it is fitted.

And just some pretty flowers I had on the top!
