I am deviating from the usual content tonight because I wanted to talk about something serious. The importance of having fire extinguishers! What was planned to be a fun, special day for us almost turned tragic and it happened in a split second!  While preparing for a party, we had a fire in our oven that escalated quickly but thankfully, we were able to extinguish it with a fire extinguisher before serious damage could occur. WhiteWashed Fireplace Mini Tutorial

If you've been around here lately, you know I recently whitewashed my fireplace and I promised some more details about it so here they are! It took a lot of coaxing for Jim to agree but finally I was able to tone it down with a whitewash. We both love it and I have gotten so many compliments! It really took it from "hurl-worthy" to "kinda queasy but I should be ok if you open a window." Of course, I would have rather slapped white paint on the whole darn thing but poor Jim and my mom would have apoplexy. Ppppaint bbbbrick?  Crazy Talk.
