My Savvy Sister Chalk Paint Dust
First of all, let me say that this is not a sponsored post and I was not asked to review My Savvy Sister Chalk Paint Dust. I was offered a sample of the Chalk Paint Dust to try with no strings attached. I feel so strongly about this product though that I had to share my experience.
We are all familiar with chalk paint, right? We know the benefits of using it such as not having to prime or sand, easy distressing, and the matte finish chalk paint provides. I am a huge fan of chalk paint projects but not a huge fan of the cost to buy a wee itty bit of it in one color, only having to buy another can if I want a different color.
So I was STOKED when My Savvy Sister contacted me and asked if I wanted to try some of their Chalk Paint Dust. I had just the project in mind, too. Remember this beauty?
I wasn't sure what chalk paint dust actually was but now My Savvy Sister Chalk Paint Dust is my new favorite craft product! You mix the dust with some boiling water and then with any color flat latex paint.I did not sand or prep the surface of the frame at all and it went on smoothly and evenly. It didn't leave a brush stroke either and seemed to self-level as it dried.
I distressed the edges of the frame a bit to let some of the gold peek out. Then I finished it with a clear wax. I spray painted the glass with chalkboard paint and now I have a pretty new piece to hang up! I love it!
A little dust makes a lot of chalk paint, too. I had plenty of paint left so I went crazy looking for things to paint and ended changing my kitchen table pedestal from blue/gold to solid cream using the chalk paint dust. I did not distress it. And we all love it so much better. Plus, it is doesn't have one chip and we use this table for everything. It takes a beating! The homemade recipe I used when I painted it blue didn't hold up this well at all. And I still have plenty of dust left to use on other projects!
I also used this chalk paint for my bunny silhouette art.
If you are looking to use chalk paint but hesitate because of the steep cost, especially if you want to use more than one color, I would recommend My Savvy Sister Chalk Paint Dust. It was so much fun to try! Thank you for sharing such a great product with me, My Savvy Sister friends!
Cheers!
Jenny
